Tarun Kothari MD, FACG, FACP is a board certified Gastroenterologist, recently retired from active private practice of Gastroenterology/Endoscopy/Hepatology after 36.5 years.

He was Chief of gastroenterology and Director of Endoscopy at Unity hospital affiliate of Rochester Regional health from 1998-2017. Dr. Kothari is a volunteer teaching faculty at Unity Hospital department of medicine and resident education program. He is involved in clinical research and has published numerous abstracts while mentoring his internal medicine residents.

Dr. Kothari’s interests includes many common GI disorders including Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Barrett’s esophagus and GERD, Hepatitis B and C, Pancreatic-Biliary diseases.

He has served in numerous health care boards. Patient safety and quality with compassion has been dear to his heart. He would like to see significant improvement in patient experience while visiting or admitted to any health care facility.

Dr. Kothari was recently appointed medical Director of Greater Rochester RHIO (Regional Health Information Organization)
